Better still if these can be delivered as a single Fire Protection System Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) package, which removes the accountability gaps that appear when design, supply, and installation are split between different vendors.

Experience and reputation. Verify how long the company has been operating through its official website and social media. Prioritise companies with comprehensive experience, meaning they can handle every aspect of fire prevention rather than a single product line. Confirm that the equipment supplied and the installation methodology refer to recognised standards.

International standards compliance. All products and services should meet international standards such as those from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in the USA, alongside Indonesian requirements including SNI and Permen PU No. 26 of 2008. Company certifications such as ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 45001 for occupational safety provide additional assurance.

Educational services. Once a fire protection system is installed, you and your team need to know how to use and maintain it. A good contractor equips your staff with knowledge of fire prevention, alarm response, and evacuation procedures. Training should come as part of the package, not as an afterthought.

Hotel guests do not know the building layout, and many will be asleep when an alarm sounds. The contractor should demonstrate experience integrating detection with public address systems and designing coverage that includes every guest room, corridor, and back-of-house area.   • Are spare parts readily available, and how long does replacement typically take?

Note that a credible contractor may not be able to name specific clients due to confidentiality agreements, but should still be able to describe the type of facility, region, and scope of work delivered.

Does facility type really change which contractor I should choose?
